With 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant being held on Sunday, August 26th, one would expect the candidates to be in the best condition both physically and mentally. However, it appeared that several of the contestants were not up to par with the exception of Tracey Chung (朱千雪). At the press conference, Christy Chan (陳潔玲) had a cold sore on her lower lip and Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯) had massive bags under her eyes. Although the pageant was only nights away, were the candidates prepared to put their best sides forward?
Unsanitary Makeup Provided by TVB
Christy Chan bravely divulged that the reason for the cold sore on her lower lip was due to the unsanitary makeup provided by the company. As the contestants shared makeup, there were incidences of cross-contamination. Previously, Cynthia Tsang (曾明俐)also had a cold sore but had since recovered. As Christy may have used the same lipstick as Cynthia, Christy may have unknowingly received her sore.
Christy disclosed, “The cause of the cold sore may be due to the unsanitary makeup. With makeup shared amongst the peers and lack of rest, my immune system is weak causing the cold sore. Because of this, the company had requested for us to bring our own lipstick.”
Christy and Amigo Deny Love Rumors
Recently, it was rumored that love had sparked between Christy and pageant emcee, Amigo Chui (崔建邦). Christy denied the allegations and stressed that she was not interested. She said, “Amigo is nice to all the girls. He would remind us to be cautious of our lazy intonations. He is a brilliant emcee but he is not suited for me.”
Amigo also replied to the rumors and stated, “If they are not facts, I will not respond. It is truly fabricated!” Regarding the contestants, Amigo commended Tracy and Jennifer Shum (岑杏賢) for their vast improvement in their speaking abilities.
Roxanne Feels Stressed
During the press conference, hot favorite, Roxanne looked a little haggard with big bags underneath her eyes. She admitted that she felt stressed from the competition and said, “I personally feel that I’m not at my best. On average, I’ve only been sleeping six hours causing the big bags underneath my eyes.”
Tracy’s Confidence Boost
Among the contestants, it was reported that Tracy was the fiercest competitor due to her significant weight lost of 12 pounds! She indicated that the weight loss boosted her confidence, “My confidence definitely increased since I’ve lost weight. I personally feel that I’m prettier!” When asked if she had lost weight in her chest region? She replied, “I haven’t measured myself. I may have lost a little but don’t need to change the size of my undergarments yet.”
