Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission, Xu Caihou has also met with US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta. Xu says increasing strategic trust is key to the healthy development of China-US military ties.
Xu also reiterated China’s stance on the on-going disputes with Japan over the Diaoyu Islands, saying China is unwavering in protecting its territory and sovereignty. He also says China is against the extension of the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between Japan and the US on the Diaoyu Islands. Panetta has assured Xu that the US won’t take sides in the disputes.
